March 2023 month in review
Dear March,
Thanks for the memories.
In March my daughter turned 10 years old (I’m still processing this one, it’s been the milestone that has hit me the hardest), my mom turned 60, my 4 year old learned how to ride a bike, and the Anytime Today™ Journals finally arrived to our office! It was a month filled with reasons to celebrate!
Let’s talk about it…
Family
I have a 10 year old daughter. Still processing that one. On one hand it feels as though she’s been here my entire adult life and on the other hand I still remember laboring with her and holding her in my arms like it was yesterday. As is our tradition, the birthday girl woke up with balloons all over her bedroom floor and we celebrated her the entire week with dinner as a family on her actual birthday and a party a few days later.
My mom also celebrated a milestone birthday so we traveled to Atlanta for her birthday party and stayed the weekend so that we could take her to lunch on her actual birthday. Four years ago, shortly after having my son, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and since then she’s lost a brother and sister to cancer. Gathering together with family for a joyous occasion was like medicine after the loss we’ve experienced the last two years. Life is fleeting, please celebrate it as much as you can!
In addition to the party celebrations, we spent time outside as we experienced all four seasons in Greenville. Yes, all four. During the non-winter moments we made time for our first hike of spring at Keowee-Toxaway State park, rode bikes, and I went for my first outdoor run of the year and it was PERFECTION. The weather was just right and I was reminded of how much I love love love running, I never regret making time to run.
March also saw my son move from the balance bike to a bike with pedals. He transitioned beautifully. I had him ride the new bike like a balance bike and in less than thirty minutes he was pedaling. It’s amazing to watch someone learn something new, unashamed about falling or messing up and trying again and again, celebrating themselves along the way. How nice would it be if we could retain those things from early childhood.
Watching him pedal and look at me exclaiming, “I’m doing it! I’m doing it!” is a highlight of 2023 and maybe of my life! He was so proud of himself and I am so proud of his effort!
March also was my son’s first time bowling. He loved it and celebrated knocking down zero pins as if it were a strike! Again, the children know how to celebrate life!
So, all in all I’ve been a grateful puddle of joy, grateful for life, for family and for the people that I have chosen to do life with! As usual, March was also filled with pilates classes, lunch with friends, and Saturday breakfast with the family. March came in and left with the quickness, but she was good while she was here!
*note that is not me in the picture below. It’s my friend Allison and we get mistaken for each other often. This is us discovering the joy of the burger and sushi bento box! It was so good!
Work
In March we hosted an intern at Best Today®, sent out Save the Date Cards, I spoke at Furman University, and Anytime Today® Journals began shipping to customers! Oh, and I just realized that Best Today® turned 3 years old in March! I’ll make plans to retroactively celebrate that because it happened during birthday week/spring break.
At Furman, I talked about living with intention (surprise, surprise right?). I wish I had this message when I was a college student! After the talk so many students asked thoughtful questions, I could tell that many of them are doing the work to ensure that they do not live by default, falling into the busy-ness and unintentional living that is so predominate in our culture.
THE JOURNALS ARE HERE!! I created this amazing video to introduce the journal to the world. It’s too good not to share here as well!
The Anytime Today™ Journal is a gift to humans and I am excited to see what it does in the lives of every person who gets it in their hands. A simple and effective way to check in with yourself with four prompts to choose from:
TODAY I AM
TODAY I FEEL
TODAY I WANT
TODAY I NEED
Just this morning a friend texted to say she started her journal and she didn’t realize how much she needed to write down how she was feeling because so often, no one asks. We move through life not pausing to check in with how we feel, what we need, what we want, how we’re doing. The Anytime Today™ Journal gives you permission and space to do that as often as you need and I’m so proud of it.
Of every product I have ever created this was the one that was met with the most resistance to get here. Them being in the homes and hands of others is a win that no one will ever fully understand. Professionally, the journal was a big part of my March and I’m so glad to be over that part of the hurdle.
I’ll save what’s been on my mind for its own blog post. That’s my March recap. Yup, it came before the February recap because I remember it better. Starting in April I am writing recaps throughout the month because I had to look back over my Best Today® Guide to remember some of what happened in March! That also means more timely month in reviews. Time will tell…
For April, I’m looking forward to me Mondays, working with new teams through my high impact teams training, and getting outside for running, hiking and biking now that the weather is getting warmer.
See you soon for the February month in review!
