Hi Friend!

Creator and owner of Because of Zoe Design, host of the Business, Life & Joy podcast and business educator.

I believe that both your life and your business can be a great source of joy!

For me, it’s simple–decide what you want your life to look like and then determine how your business will fit within that life, not the other way around.

Instead of searching for the elusive “work/life” balance, I strive for harmony, knowing that there are so many roles that I play (mom, wife, sister, friend, daughter, teacher, business owner, etc..) and at varying times of my life one role may require more than the other.

That’s also why I have no desire to achieve “balance” because balance is an attempt to give everything equal distribution of weight. Have you ever watched someone tightrope walk?  Yup, that’s how trying to balance will make you feel, like you’re about to tip over!

Why do I mention this as the very first thing that you should know about me? Because it explains why I teach and do business the way that I do.  You can build a sustainable business and live a life that is fulfilling and I’d love to be a part of your journey to get there if you believe that you’re one of my peeps–meaning, you desire to grow a successful business and also enjoy your life along the way.!

I went from living by the billable hour to no longer living for Friday!

In September 2015, I left private practice to pursue entrepreneurship full time.  I was over dreading Mondays and there was nothing besides a paycheck to keep me in a place that I had outgrown.  Money was not enough.

I wanted to make hair bows and even though it was so far from my original life plan, I chose not to surrender my joy for an idea of what I once thought I would become.

“There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

Neslson Mandela

I almost settled for a life less than the one I am capable of living.  But once I made a step toward creating a life where I did not have to dread Mondays (now one of my favorite days of the week!) everything changed for the better.

As I prepared to transition my “side hustle” into a full time business, I began at the foundation.  Sure, my bows were selling and shipping all across the globe and yes, I had stockists lined up, but neither of those alone would lead to stability and sustainability.  I needed to build a solid foundation before I tried to do any other type of building (i.e. wholesale, re-branding, collaborations) in the business. And that’s exactly what I did.

So I re-evaluated my business.

I focused on the who, what, when, where, how and, most importantly, the WHY of my business.

I took the time to undergo trial and error, educate myself, survey my existing audience and re-evaluate my pricing and internal policies, and that is when Because of Zoe Designs soared to even greater heights and enabled me to walk into full-time entrepreneurship!

In January 2016, I began hosting daily “classes” on Periscope, teaching fellow creative entrepreneurs the lessons I had learned from building Because of Zoe.  I enjoyed this daily hour and later moved from Periscope to a private Facebook Group where I could teach in more than just a video format.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that I wanted to spend a significant portion of my time teaching and encouraging entrepreneurs.  Since then, I have worked with hundreds of online business owners who create physical, digital and info products, helping them to build essential foundations within their businesses. so that their businesses stand the test of time.
